Microsoft Xbox 360 Console Xbox 360 no video

Problem:

i have one of the regular xbox 360s with the 20gb hd. its not even a year old and i lost video, i get sound, but no video. i'm not stupid so dont suggest trying different tv's, making sure the av cables are plugged into the same input, making sure the switch is turned to tv and not hdtv. the only thing i havent tried is using a different av cable. until i can find someone with one i wont be able to, im not about to spend $30 and wait 2+ weeks for something that may not work. does anybody have a suggestion?

Solution
:
  1. I had no video and dots, and the sound worked fine, but no RRoD.
So I tried the towel trick just to kill the 360 into a RRoD situation that is covered by the extended warranty. After about 40 minutes of running the 360 was crazy hot. I flipped on the TV/Video switch to see if there was any change, and the video returned!

So, the towel tricked worked for me. I wanted to kill my 360 but it revived it. It's been 4 days and the video has been working fine
  2. same proble guys playing Mass effect I thought the game just had really crap lighting, and being colour blind thought nothing of the unusual colouring and then turned it off after playing and when i tryed it again no piture wonding if i should get it repaired or wait till this becomes the new 3ROD problem they fork out to fix at the company
ps I rarely ever played mine never would of had a chance to warm up let alone overheat
  3. same problem TRY:

*turning on wait 10 secs and turn it off.
    *turn on hold RT+Y
  4. Buy a pre-owned cable, test it on your system, if it works keep it, if it doesn't, take it back and say you bought the wrong lead!]
  5. Mine started doing this and the towel trick seemed to of fixed it enough to play games many times over. I seem to only get it during mass effect, weird eh?
  6. I know 95% of you have probably tried this, but if you have your HDMI components hooked into your TV, make sure the switch on your A/V cables is turned to HDMI...and if they are just the regular RYW cables, make sure its switched to TV.

My xbox 360 won't even start up/turn on

Problem:

This is bs i just bought halo 3 and i get home and my xbox 360 don't even turn on that fucked up piece of shit xbox

Solution
:
  1. take your xbox to the roof and drop it on the cement below that will solve your problem for now
  2. Mine would not turn on either, all I did was unplug the power brick from the powerstrip I had it in and put it directly in the wall outlet.
  3. If the unit wont power on, and the power brick has power and is lit up green, the issue is likely a failing voltage regulator transistor. The P/N of the transistor is MMBT3906LT1 and it can be replaced at home with a small soldiering iron and some care. Look up the transistor part number. There of plenty of location guides and sources to buy it on line. They are all of a few dollars.
  4. If you're talking about your hard drive (attaches to the top of the machine), then take it out and use a memory card. If it's a memory card... then you may need to replace it.
  5. Fixya solved 3 red lights problem
    thanks fixyaexpert

Error E 74

Problem:

ive had my xbox 360 for about a year and a half now and it has worked great until just a couple of weeks ago...when i turn my xbox on now all it shows is the bottom right ring light flashing red and E 74 appears on the screen. I looked it up and was told that it was a problem with the a/v cable, but i tried other a/v cables that belong to my friend and it still doesnt work. i figured that maybe that it was the a/v component inside the xbox i.e. the chip. i no longer have a warranty on my xbox so microsoft will not help. does anyone have any advice for me? is there a way i could acquire another chip and replace it?

Solution
:
  1. Even though I did the stupid thing taking apart my xbox 360 breaking the seal microsoft still gave me another 360 I didn't even have a warranty! I still bought another 360 though because they said that there would be a 10% chance of it being fix. So now I have 2 360's
  2. 1. do the damn towel trick.
    this is a temp fix
    2. go sell it to gamestop w/o HDD
    3. GO back the next day and buy a new 360
i had to do this cuz my xbox was stolen
  3. Worked for me. Wrapped in towel for 5 minutes. Took it off and let it cool down. Error E74 gone (for now).
  4. Okay, you can pay xbox about $150 and they will fix it. your xbox is overheating and it is happening to all of them. If you don't want to try that, I have heard of a solution some people, even a friend of mine has wrapped a towel around it and just left it on. It will counteract itself and reboot itself to normal and you will be able to play with it. when and if you fix it, unplug it when not in use and don't play marathon times with it.
  5. i had error 74 .The only way you will fix it is by doing the x clamp fix ,then over heat the system by unpluging the fans until you get two red lights. My 360 has been work ever since.
  6. alright quit witht the goddamn towel trick it breaks the consale even more water and electricty doesnt work just send it in or fix it your self

Microsoft Xbox 360 Console My rank on call of duty 4 on xbox live keeps on..

Problem:

I am having problems between my xbox live wireless connection and call of duty 4 xbox 360 game. 95% of the time, my progress does not save, it just occasionally randomly saves. Its very frustrating because every time im playing it, i wonder if 'this time' it will save and all the progress im making is totally worthless. C.O.D is the only game i seem to be having saving problems with. I understand that the game has auto save, but why isnt it doing its job after each round??
I would be absolutely delighted if you could provide me with an answer as it is the best game i have ever played and im not able to enjoy it freely.
Please help.

Solution
:
  1. Do you have a big enough hard drive? or is your HD full?
  2. are you saving it to your harddrive if so make sure that it is plugged in correctly or you may be having problems with the disk.
  3. i got it too... but i know how to save ( works 50%) after a match do NOT leave it yet, if the new match just sarted, after the countdown leave verry vast als ga to the home page, this might work
  4. my hd not full or anything like that but nothing is saving when i disconnect or turn my xbox off. 5% off the time it does so im now rank 4 but thius is only online.

Xbox 360 screen wont show up

Problem:

i was playing and one day i turned it on and the sound worked perfectly but the screen dident come up i bought new cables still nothing so what do i do.........

Solution
:
  1. If the console is not under warranty (hence you removed the seal) there is a simple fix for this - Do not do the towel trick - harms the cpu and the gpu also only works for a little while.
  2. This is a difficult solution to recommend but the towel trick does work, let it over heat the 360 for about 20 min, then let it cool for 20 more min, and it now works fine, I have a inner cooler now to keep from overheating again.
  3. ok try to let it cool for 30-50 min then turn it on if stiil dosent then wipe all prongs and then plug them back in the tv now try to turn it on still no work try new cables still no work try new tv. but check if the switch is set to hd or tv{if u have hd switch to hd if tv turn to tv}.try to get a new consle if to much $ try sending to the manufraturer. that all that i can offer
  4. right yh same here... i tryed putting it on another T.V it allmost worked for me but im guessing I need a new lead, but for you it may work, give it a try. if that doesn't work i really dont know, i tryed goin to the shops about it but they said the problem was new to them.
  5. Send it in to xbox they'll fix it. Takes forever but they'll do it. If you can make it that long.

Microsoft Xbox 360 Console Xbox 360 keeps freezing

Problem:

The console keeps freezing during the opening screen, and the time or two I was able to get past that screen, it freezes when the game is loading. Plus I have gotten the red ring a couple of times. What can I do?

Solution
:
  1. There's a great 3 red lights fix here. It's by fixya expert
  2. Try keeping your power brick cool. I do that by placing it on the corner of my shoe box. I did that and I had no problems.
  3. Try turning off the VSYNC in the graphic options.

XBOX 360 - E74 WITH ONE RED LIGHT

Problem:

CAN YOU HELP AND PLEASE DON'T SAY CONTACT MICROSOFT.

Solution
:
  1. I found out how to fix this problem from this blog:
    http://xbox3603redlights.wordpress.com/
It is a GPU error and takes about 30 mins to fix!
    Got it sorted though!
  2. DO NOT USE A TOWEL!!! This will mess it up for good.

I fix a console every day and put them on ebay, out of the 100s that i have fixed only 1 or 2 have ever not worked after doing this fix:

    1. One of the main reasons that causes you’re Xbox to die is over heating. This can cause warping of the motherboard due to the X clamps that Microsoft use to hold the heat sinks in place, which in-turn can damage the minute solder points all over the motherboard. The first thing we need to do is open the 360 & remove all the internal parts. There are several tutorials for this, here is 1 of them: http://www.xboxchopshop.com/catalog/man_360_open.php
  3. fixya experts found the solution for the 3 flashing red lights problem. Click here for more details.
  4. I had the same problem. I basically put a towel round my x box for ten minutes, used a different AV cable and it worked. for some reason my old AV cable is working now too. its better to try this than paying for the fix.
